METROPOLITAN Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Acting Chairman Engr. Carlo Dimayuga III encouraged the public to continue wearing face masks outdoors and on open spaces despite an Executive Order was issued making the wearing of face masks outdoors optional.

Dimayuga said that the wearing of face masks protects us not only against the COVID-19 virus but also from pollution adding that the agency strongly enjoins the public, particularly those who are not fully vaccinated, immuno-compromised, and the senior citizens, to continue wearing face masks whether indoor or outdoor for it helps minimize our risk of getting infected with the virus and stop its further transmission.

Aside from this, the agency also released a memorandum to all its employees emphasizing the need to still strictly adhere to the minimum health protocols. In the memorandum, all employees are urged to wear masks even outdoor, especially field personnel, for their own protection.

Under Executive Order No. 3, wearing of face masks in open spaces and non-crowded outdoor areas with good ventilation is now optional provided that physical distancing will be observed at all times.
