CUYAPO, Nueva Ecija – A deacon of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) who was reported missing more than two months ago on Saturday was found floating and dead in an irrigation canal in Pangasinan.
The family and friends of Michael “Niknok” Lagrana, 41, a resident of Bgy. District 4, Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija, are crying out for justice after he was discovered dead, with his half-body found floating, in the irrigation canal.
Condolences have started to pour out for the bereaved family after his wife, Jhen Lagrana posted on her Facebook page at 4:55 p.m. of the same day that her husband, who has been missing for more than two months since January 6, had passed away.
It was learned that the victim’s half body was found in the main irrigation canal in Bgy. Lagasit, San Quintin, Pangasinan.
“Iyan po ang initial confirmation kasi wala pang result ng DNA, nakilala lang po ng asawa ng biktima dahil sa suot na brief at shorts, at wala ang ulo’t paa at itaas na bahagi ng katawan,” Lt. Col. Jeffrey S. Onde, Cuyapo police head told the Journal Group in a text message.
It can be recalled that Lagrana disappeared with his helper Julius Diaz on January 6, 2025.
According to Jhen’s Facebook post, her husband and Julius went to District 7 at Rosa Villa Subdivision in this town to collect a loan payment and have not returned since.
At 6 p.m. on January 6, authorities recovered the abandoned and burnt Toyota Hi-lux pickup of the victim in Poblacion West, Umingan, Pangasinan.
On February 5, 2025, the body of Diaz was discovered in Bgy. Ungib, San Quintin, Pangasinan.
A reward of P1.2-million was offered for any information that would help to locate the victims’ whereabouts but to no avail.
