Missing boy, 12, found dead in irrigation canal

CABANATUAN CITY – A 12-year-old elementary student was found dead and already in a state of decomposition about four days after he left home to take a bath at a nearby irrigation canal here on Sunday.

Police information head, Lt. Franklin Sindac said the Grade 5 pupil, believed to be a drowning victim, was found along an irrigation canal at Genaro Extension in Barangay M.S. Garcia here at 12:00 p.m.

Police said the victim, a resident of Bgy. D.S. Garcia, this city, was found by his elder brother in the said area.

Authorities learned that the boy left the house at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 28 to take a bath at the said irrigation canal but had failed to return home since.

The victim’s mother declined to have her son’s body autopsied and to subject the crime scene to processing by the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO).

Sindac said the boy’s body was taken to the Loida Funeral Chapel and Memorial Services here for proper disposition.
