THE sister of the alleged “middleman” in the Percy Lapid murder has provided several names and other information, which the Department of Justice (DOJ) has considered as material and relevant at first glance.

“Well… on its face, siyempre relevant siya. Pero we have to verify that even further para makita talaga natin kung totoo yung sinasabi niya, kung credible talaga. Pero on its face, if ever totoo man yung sinasabi niya, then of course relevant siya and it poses a threat to her life,” Justice Assistant Secretary and concurrent spokesperson Atty. Mico Clavano said in a chance interview.

According to Clavano, inmate Jun Globa Villamor, who died on October 18, had supposedly told his sister in Facebook Messenger some relevant information surrounding the popular broadcaster’s death.

“Well, over messenger chat po yung nangyari. And yes, well, obviously may relevance doon sa mga involved supposedly. Pero all these are allegations as of now. So we have to verify, we have to vet.

Kaya ongoing, ongoing po yung vetting at yung verification,” Clavano said.

Villamor’s sister was taken into the protection of the Witness Protection Program (WPP) after Social Welfare and Development Secretary Erwin Tulfo brought her to the DOJ last Monday.

Villamor, who had been serving time since 2019 for murder, frustrated murder, and violation of an election gun ban, died inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Hospital on October 18.

A Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) report said Villamor was brought to the NBP Hospital around 1:30 p.m. after he was found unconscious at his prison dorm inside the maximum security compound of NBP.

Villamor supposedly relayed the kill order to self-confessed gunman Joel Escorial.
