The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has reinforced its commitment to promote sustainable development in the Philippines through its pursuit to achieve just, orderly and affordable energy transition underpinned by its strategic investments in renewable energy.

During the executive roundtable discussion “Charting the Path to 2030: Strategic Conversations on Renewable Energy” organized by the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP), Meralco executives led by Chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan, discussed in depth the Philippines’ clean energy roadmap and exchanged insights and best practices with the European ambassadors and representatives of ECCP.

Meralco PowerGen (MGEN) President and Chief Executive Editor Emmanuel Rubio, in his keynote message, highlighted One Meralco’s contribution to energy security, and the plans through which the power generation unit of Meralco aims to achieve a sustainable future through a low-carbon energy transition.

” Core to the group’s long-term sustainability strategy are twin commitments to secure 1,500 MW of renewable energy and to develop 1,500 MW of attributable green energy generation capacity.

Through MGEN Renewable Energy, Inc. (MGREEN), MGEN plans to accelerate development of solar projects including Terra Solar, which is envisioned to be the world’s largest single-site solar farm with battery energy storage system. ”

Meralco’s Pangilinan also reiterated the immediate need to boost available supply in the country, which undeniably plays a crucial role in supporting sustainable economic development.
