Meralco bags more int’l recognitions for excellent communications programs
THE Manila Electric Company (Meralco), the country’s largest electric distribution utility, continues to exemplify communication excellence as it adds more major wins to its long list of recognitions in the international stage.
Meralco won two Awards of Excellence at the 2022 Silver Quill Awards, an awards program organized by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) that honors outstanding work of communication professionals across the Asia Pacific Region.
These awards were among the seven (7) winning entries from the Philippines that earned the coveted highest award for demonstrating strategic acumen, innovative thinking, and creative skills.
Meralco’s 2020 Corporate Reports, which won under the Publications category, showcased Meralco’s 2020 Annual Report, Power On; 2020 Meralco Sustainability Report, Live Life; and One Meralco Foundation’s (OMF) 2020 Annual Report, Give Hope. Meralco’s Corporate Reports detail how Meralco, through its various programs and initiatives, help the country in its fight against the COVID-19 and support pandemic recovery efforts.
Meanwhile, “Meralco Corporate Partners Viber Community: Engagement when connectivity is a must”, the company’s winning entry under the Social Media category, highlights how Meralco’s Viber community served as an effective channel in providing relevant updates that may impact the business operations of the company’s enterprise customers. Through this, Meralco was also able to achieve significant penetration of its corporate base, with hundreds of its corporate customers joining the community.
Both entries were also recognized at the 2022 Gold Quill Awards for garnering a total score of 5.25 and above per entry, automatically entitling them as Excellence Awardees at the IABC Asia Pacific Silver Quill Awards.
To win in this prestigious awards program, an entry must also meet the IABC’s 7-Point Global Scale of Excellence as evaluated against a stringent set of rubrics by seasoned communication professionals from different parts of the world.
Meralco also recently emerged as the Company of the Year 1st Runner-up at the 19th Philippine Quill Awards, after it took home a total of 22 wins – 8 Excellence Awards and 14 Merit Awards during the awards night held last August.
The Quill Awards programs are organized by the IABC, an organization that enables a global network of communicators working in diverse industries and disciplines to identify, share, and apply the world’s best communication practices. IABC is recognized as the professional association of choice for communicators who aspire to excel in their chosen fields.
