MC driver, back rider die in Batangas mishaps

A MOTORCYCLE driver and a back rider were killed while the two other riders were severely injured in two separate vehicular incidents in Batangas City and Lian town in Batangas on Monday, according to a police report.

Batangas City authorities identified the fatality as Tyron Dela Cruz. Critically hurt were the two back riders identified as Edward Benedict Panopio and Ariel Arojado who are now undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Initial investigation showed that on or about 9:20 p.m. on January 3, a Honda Click motorcycle driven by Dela Cruz was traversing the national road in Purok 1, Bgy. Bolbok, Batangas City and heading towards the Philippine Port Authority, Port of Batangas when the driver lost control on the steering wheel handle and hit the plastic barrier of the center island, then skidded onto the pavement.

Dela Cruz and the two back riders Panopio and Arojado sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the Batangas Medical Center by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) of Batangas City.

Dela Cruz was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

In Lian, Municipal Police Station chief PCPT Amiel Bernardo Sanhi, Jr. said a woman was killed when the motorcycle she was riding in accidentally hit a parked car.

Killed was Marie Vicenal.

A report said that at around 6 p.m. on January 3, the Mio 125 motorcycle driven by Mark Joseph Vecinal was traveling on the town highway when it accidentally a parked brown Toyota Vios with plate number NAQ 2506 driven by Christine Michelle, company nurse.

Marie Vicenal sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival by the attending physician.
