NAVOTAS City Mayor Toby Tiangco congratulated Barangay Daanghari on being the 12th barangay in Navotas declared “drug-cleared” by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Together with representatives from PDEA and the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Navotas, Tiangco handed the drug-cleared certificate to Alvin Oliveros, Daanghari barangay chairperson.

“Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Navotas continued its relentless campaign against illegal drugs to keep every Navoteño safe,” he said.

“We are thankful to all officials and constituents of Bgy. Daanghari for working hand-in-hand to uphold peace and order in our community,” he added.

Barangays that retained their drug-cleared status included Bagumbayan North; Bangkulasi; Navotas East and Navotas West; North Bay Boulevard South (NBBS) Dagat-dagatan, NBBS Proper and NBBS Kaunlaran; San Rafael Village; Sipac-Almacen; and Tanza I and Tanza II.

For a barangay to be drug-cleared, drug personalities under its unified watchlist should have been given appropriate intervention, it should have a “drug-free” workplace, and barangay officials are actively advocating for an anti-drug campaign, among others.

“The support of our constituents is vital in our anti-drug campaign. Please continue to report to TXT JRT any suspicious individuals or activities. Let us continue to be vigilant and win this fight together,” he added.

Navotas has a community-based treatment and rehabilitation program called “Bidahan” which includes rehabilitation and counseling and an aftercare program that runs for six and 18 months.
