ABUCAY, Bataan – After descending along the coastal waters of this town and personally conducting an ocular inspection the other day within the “tahongan area”, Mayor Robin C. Tagle assured yesterday green mussels (tahong) growers and fishermen that he will initiate a “win-win” solution for their benefits.

The first-ever town mayor to visit the “tahongan area” along Manila Bay, Mayor Tagle, said that he personally went down to the sea to see how he could further help the tahong growers and fishermen in this coastal town.

“There are few illegal structures for tahong that impedes the sea lanes for fishermen in the area, so I suggested that these structures be removed and transferred to a nearby area so that they would not become obstacles to other fishermen who are also passing through along the coastal area,” Tagle pointed out.

Accompanying the mayor during the inspection were Municipal Planning Head David Baino, DA (Department of Agriculture)-BFAR (Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources) Representative Ellorence Nisay, other employees, and representatives from mussel growers and fishers.

“Bahagi din ng inspeksyon ang pagbabalanse sa pagitan ng mga tahungan at mga mangingisda na parehong nagbibigay pakinabang sa ating mamamayan na nakakarating sa ating pamilihan hanggang hapag kainan,” stressed Tagle.

Both sectors were satisfied by the mayor’s initiatives, unlike the past administration that, according to tahong growers, they were being “harassed” and “intimated”.

“Magaling ‘tong si Mayor Robin dahil tinitingnan din niya ang aming ikabubuti at hindi kami iniipit gaya nung nagdaang liderato,” lamented a tahong grower.
