Mayor Oca: AstraZeneca gives triple protection vs Omicron
FOLLOWING the recent spike of virus transmission of Omicron variant of COVID-19, Caloocan City Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan encouraged fully vaccinated individuals to get booster shot using AstraZeneca.
Mayor Oca said that based on data from laboratory study conducted by independent researchers from Oxford University, AstraZeneca gives higher or almost triple protection against the risk of Omicron variant.
“Protektahan po ninyo ang sarili at ang inyong pamilya sa pamamagitan ng pagbabakuna ng AstraZeneca booster, tatlong buwan matapos mabakunahan ng kahit anong brand ng COVID-19 primary vaccine,” Mayor Oca said.
Mayor Oca posted on his social media account facebook that the neutralization titers for Omicron were boosted 2.7 fold following the third dose of AstraZeneda compared to 28 days following the second dose.
Although rivals Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, which also works effectively against Omicron, AstraZeneca lifted antibody levels against the Omicron variant much higher with the booster jab.
