MANILA Mayor Maria Sheila “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan expressed her warmest greetings to the officials of the Philippine Normal University (PNU) as they celebrated their 31st year of Universityhood.

The mayor personally extended her greetings to the officials, teachers, employees and students of the university who attended the regular flag ceremony on Monday at the Kartilya ng Katipunan.

Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan acknowledged the presence of PNU officials who attended the flag ceremony, including its President, Dr. Bert Jazmin Tuga, Vice President (VP) for Academics Dr. Jenny Jocson, VP for Finance and Administration Dr. Jose Ocampo, Jr. VP for Planning, Research and Quality Assurance Dr. Adonis David, and VP for University Relations and Advancement Dr. Lordinio Vergara.

She also extended her greetings to other officials of the institution in all branches all over the country, along with its deans, faculty members, alumni, employees, and several students who also attended the flag ceremony.

“Sabi nga nila, ang edukasyon daw ay nagbibigay ng katatagan sa buhay. Isang mahalagang bagay na hindi maiaalis o mananakaw kahit ninuman. Isang bagay na maipapamana natin sa ating mga anak,” Mayor Lacuna-Pangan said in her speech. “Ang kahusayan at karunungan ng isang tao ay bunga ng masikap na pagtuturo at pagsasanay ng mga guro. So, maraming-maraming salamat po sa PNU. Saludo po kami sa inyo,” she added.

The PNU was a premier teaching institution and was declared National Center for Teacher’s Education in the Philippines by virtue of law under R.A. No. 9647.
