Mayor Honey Lacuna urges future lawyers to serve, immerse in Barangay
MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan expressed her greetings and commendation to all bar examinees who completed the examination which is about to wind up on September 15.
“As the 2024 Bar Exams wind up and with our city proudly hosting the University of Santo Tomas and San Beda University testing centers, I congratulate all the bar examinees on completing all the exams because that in itself is a major life event,” Mayor Lacuna said in her opening greetings.
The Supreme Court earlier announced that the results of the 2024 Bat Exams are expected to be released by December so the examinees won’t have to wait long.
“To those who will pass the bar, I recommend that they pay it forward to the communities and barangays where they reside. Immerse yourself in your neighbors’ real-world legal debacles. Do your best to present solutions your neighbors can choose from,” the mayor advises the future lawyers.
She also encouraged law graduates to familiarize themselves with the Katarungang Pambarangay or Barangay Justice System as it is actuallly implemented in the barangays. Katarungang Pambarangay is an important part of the Local Government Code of 1991.
Earlier, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and the Public Attorney’s Office, in collaboration with the Manila LGU, continued to conduct community outreach to provide legal assistance in the city.
