LACK of barangay hall was one of the problems raised by a barangay official when Mayor Maria Sheila “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan and Vice Mayor John Marvin “Yul Servo” Nieto conducted another “Kalinga sa Maynila” at the Sarmiento Covered Court in Barangay 592 on Wednesday.

Chairman Rulyn Abueva Rosabal of Bgry. 588 Zone 58 in Sta Mesa aired his predicament in providing fast, smooth and efficient services to his constituents due to lack of barangay hall which will serve as their office, meeting place for the Sangguniang Barangay and storage of office equipment.

He added that at present, he had to utilize his own garage and a tent as their temporary office which are not an appropriate office for providing good services to the people.

Mayor Honey in her response said the lack of barangay hall is a perennial problem of lots of barangay officials in the city since Manila has the highest number of barangays in the National Capital Region (NCR) with a total of 897 barangays.

It can be recalled that lack of barangay hall was the problem aired recently by one of Barangay Chairman in District II in Tondo but upon seeing an empty lot, Congressman Rolan Valeriano shouldered the expenses for the construction of the 3-story barangay hall.
