TAGUIG City Mayor Lino Cayetano expressed his support on the decision of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to downgrade the COVID-19 alert level in the National Capital Region from March 1 to 15, 2022, in relation to the Metro Manila Council’s recommendation.

With the Alert Level 1, the lifting most of the restrictions based on the IATF guidelines, the City of Taguig vows that its City Epidemiology Disease Surveillance Unit (CEDSU) will continue its active disease surveillance efforts and ensure COVID-19 patients will receive the necessary care to recover.

Taguig City will use its collective experience during the pandemic to further enhance its COVID-19 response. Taguig’s effective system has been in place during the first months of the pandemic which included fully equipped quarantine facilities, free testing for all residents, telemedicine in the local hospitals and in all health centers and contact tracing. For COVID-19 patients who are experiencing severe symptoms, hospital beds were made available and readily equipped to provide convenience, comfort and care to patients.

Among the City’s efforts are the creation of the Taguig Safe City Task Force, an office which ensures minimum public health standards and safety protocols are properly disseminated and implemented for the safety of citizens. The City also established the Taguig Resource for Extensive and Numeric Data (TREND). They collate and process data for use in decision making and also in closely monitoring areas of concern. Taguig also started its own Molecular Laboratory which allowed for more RT-PCR Tests to be conducted.

As of February 27, 2022, the City has conducted a total of 253,335 free RT-PCR tests across its 35 testing sites which includes the drive-thru testing centers, the Park N’ Test center, the testing sites in all barangay health centers, and the Taguig Mega Swabbing Facility.

Taguig has institutionalized many of the learnings from the COVID-19 pandemic into its disaster preparedness and disease surveillance networks as we transition to the New Normal. Safety is at the forefront of the City Government of Taguig’s transition and we will continue to ensure its COVID-19 response remains strong and thoroughly implemented along with vaccination efforts for citizens. Taguig City is constantly finding ways to make its services available and accessible especially to those in need.

The City Government of Taguig implores business owners and establishments to cooperate and do their part in making the city safe by ensuring enforcement of the minimum public health standards and safety protocols as Taguig continues to march into the new future.
