Mayor Along orders probe into spoiled food served at Xmas party
A HAPPY occasion turned unpleasant after spoiled food was allegedly served during a Christmas party sponsored by Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan.
Even the city chief executive, his father former Mayor and now 1st District Congressman Oca Malapitan and brother Councilor Enteng Malapitan also received contaminated or spoiled dinner packs which were served at past 8 p.m.
The party, attended by all department heads, regular, contractual and job order employees from South and North Caloocan was held last Thursday at the Caloocan City Sports Complex located along Bagumbong Road, Brgy. 171 in North Caloocan.
“Buti na lang, umamoy kaagad yung pagkain nang mabuksan kaya kahit isa sa amin, hindi na tinangkang kainin dahil pag nagkataon, baka ma-food poison pa kami. Ang kawawa ay yung mga contractual and job order employees, street sweepers at traffic attendants na naka-assign sa South Caloocan, gutom talaga ang inabot nila dahil 1 p.m. pa lang nandun na sila,’ one of the attendees said.
Caloocan City Public Information Office (PIO) Officer-in-Charge Princess Garcia in a text message said the mayor has already ordered an investigation regarding the incident.
According to one of the employees, the Human Resource and Management Office was in charge of the food preparation for the Christmas party which was supposed to start at 3 p.m.
“Parang me nangyaring pananabotahe. Hindi kasi kaagad ipinamahagi ang pagkain. Maski tubig man lang, walang ibinigay kaya kailangan pang lumabas ang marami sa complex para bumili ng tubig,” a male employee said.
The employee added that Congressman Oca and his son Councilor Enteng arrived at the party before 7 p.m., followed by Mayor Along who came at around 8 p.m. when the spoiled food was served.
