Masbate leaders ink manifesto of support for UniTeam
LOCAL political leaders in Masbate set aside their rivalries to rally their constituents and throw their full support behind presidential candidate Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. and his running-mate Inday Sara Duterte for the May 9 elections.
To dramatize their commitment, the leaders led by incumbent Gov. Antonio Kho even signed a manifesto of support on Saturday in favor of Bongbong and Sara’s candidacies.
Marcos visited the province on Saturday and conducted a caravan heading to Freedom Park in front of the Masbate Provincial Hall, where the grand rally was held.
Joining him in the motorcade were Kho and Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) provincial chairman Ruben Jude Lim, who were political rivals but opted to both support the BBM-Sara UniTeam.
At the grand rally, Lim said that the province must unite for Marcos and support his advocacy of a unifying leadership to effect change and progress in the province and the country.
In the same program, Kho also formally declared BBM and Sara as their candidates in the upcoming election.
“As your governor, with this forging of alliances and with his great promises, I will declare Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. as our official candidate as president,” Kho declared.
Kho also stated that despite disagreements with Lim, and other provincial officials, they were united in their desire to support the BBM-Sara candidacies.
“Pasalamatan din po natin si PFP provincial chairman RJ Lim, and besides our local political struggle, we will be supporting a common candidate for president and vice president respectfully,” said Kho.
Marcos thanked local officials and thousands of Masbateños for their warm welcome.
Masbate is one of the provinces in the Bicol Region, which is supposed to be a bailiwick of their rival Leni Robredo.
But Marcos is elated that Masbate has opted to choose him and Inday over their rivals. Before the program ended, Kho and other provincial officials signed a “Manifesto of Support” for the BBM-Sara UniTeam. Among the signatories were 17 mayors, two congressmen and 490 barangay captains.
