Martinez shows way in TBL
JAMES Martinez of the Phuket Waves is well on his way to another remarkable performance in the Thailand Basketball League (TBL).
Martinez, a former PBA player now making a name as a playing coach, took the lead in points scored after the first leg of the Thailand-based competition.
Martinez amassed had 329 points after nine games for an average of 36.6 points per game . He also had six assists per outing.
“Swerte lang talaga na nakuha ko yun scoring title ngayong first leg, lalo na si kuya Patrick Cabahug naka 83 points isang game,”said Martinez, who rose to prominence during his playing days with the Powerade Tigers in the PBA from 2011-2012.
“Pinipilit ko talagang maging consistent every game para manalo yung team namin. Sana mag-tuloy yung swerte at umabot pa kami ng semis o finals,” added Martinez.
“Gusto ko mag-pasalamat sa mga sumusuporta at naniniwala sa amin. Sina boss Jet Maronilla ng MC Sports, Dennis Chiang of DCG Steel, John Rosagas ng Uratex, Big Boy Lee ng IV Vitamin Bar, Three Points Sublimation at Sprinto Shades ni Pawlo Misolas,” added Martinez.
Martinez bested RJ Deles of Similan Black Fox (232), Thacharin Narbonne of Chaophraya Thunders (217) and Cabahug of Korat CK T-Rex (212).
