Maris proud to act with Aga
MARIS Racal is so happy to be part of Cignal-TV5’s groundbreaking movie series, “Suntok sa Buwan”, that started airing on Monday and is getting very good feedback from netizens who have seen it.
“I am really proud to be part of this show,” says Maris. “I get the chance to work with a legendary actor like Kuya Aga Muhlach and with one of our best young actors today, Elijah Canlas. And it’s produced by two amazing and award-winning filmmakers, Dan Villegas and Antoinette Jadaone. I really look up to all of them, also our director, Geo Lomuntad, and I have gained so much from the experience of working with all of them.”
She says was surprised when she got the offer to be a member of the show’s cast. “Siempre, yes agad ako, I accepted it right away. Mahirap palampasin ang ganito kagandang opportunity. I play the role of Trina, love interest ni Elijah Canlas as Dos. We both work as vendors sa souvenir shops sa Baguio, pero magkaribal ‘yung stalls namin so at first, we don’t see each other eye to eye. I have my own story. ‘Yung mom ko is abroad and I’m estranged from my dad. I live with an aunt in Baguio. My plan is to take up law in college, pero wala akong pambayad ng tuition fee.”
Maris is from Tagum, Davao and was discovered eight years ago when she joined PBB All In at the age of 16. She won as second placer then Star Magic signed her up. She was made a part of the song and dance group Girltrends which she enjoyed as she comes from a musical family. She plays a lot of musical instruments and was given her first single, “Tanong Mo sa Bituin”.
She did guest appearances in a lot of Kapamilya shows, including “Ang Probinsyano” and “Hanggang Saan”, and also supporting roles in a number of movies like “Bloody Crayons” and “Haunted Forest”. She’s now elated to be given the chance to work with the Kapatid Network.
“I really want to thank Cignal & TV5 for giving viewers the opportunity to watch a good show like ‘Suntok sa Buwan’. Napakaganda ng kuwento and they really made sure na maganda ang buong production and execution nito. Lahat kaming involved are excited na mapanood ito ng viewers kasi we’re all proud of our hard work that went into it. The main story is about the love of a father and a son, as played by Kuya Aga and Elijah, but there are other elements that will win your hearts, so don’t miss every single episode na talagang labor of love at pinaghirapan naming lahat.”
It’s common knowledge that Maris is currently in a relationship with singer Rico Blanco. Maris herself confirmed their being on in May 2021. They have since worked together in doing several songs, like “Abot Langit”, “Not for Me” and “Asa Naman”.
When asked about Maris, Rico has declared: “She has a fun, positive vibe that brings out my playful side.”
As for Maris, she says Rico makes her feel safe and secure. “He helps me understand myself more and he gives me a logical reason for whatever I am feeling or thinking,” she adds.
Maris is 24 and Rico is 49, but apparently, age doesn’t matter between them. It’s just a number.
