THE Marikina City Lions Club recently turned over the 11 units of houses built with love, unity and selfless dedication to its beneficiaries.

Twenty three families benefited from the biggest humanitarian project of the club for Lion year 2020 to 2021, located at Road 1 Bukang Liwayway, Doña Petra, Barangay Tumana, Marikina City.

Lion dignitaries from MD 301 PID Michael So, District 301-D2 IPDG Generoso D. del Rosario, 2nd VDG Roehl Castro and Cab. Sec. Jamir Caaway attended and witnessed the turn over and blessing of the Lions Ville.

“This project is a testament to the hard work, commitment and passion to serve of our team to the community,” said Coun. Ziffred A. Ancheta, club and Liga ng Mga Barangay at NCR president.

He added that indeed, as Helen Keller once said, ‘Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much,’ in recognition of the generous donors and the efforts and initiatives undertaken by the lions and leos to complete Lions Ville.

“The beneficiaries can now live a comfortable and decent life after staying at Iwahig Court that was used as their temporary shelter after their houses, made of wood were consumed by fire few days before typhoon Ulysses struck the city on November 2020,” said project manager Lion Lizette G. Piñon.

The construction that started last February 6 was inspired by the initial funding from GAT Area 5 Leader PCC George Ong Tan and FL Rosita Lim Ong Tan.

The couple once again stirred the spirit of ‘bayanihan’ among the members of the club, together with the barangay council and staff of Tumana and the beneficiaries as they pledge for another financial support for the cementing of pathways and drainage system of the Ville.

Based on records, Lion Wheng Tejada and Lion Joven Mendoza reported that the houses, with a lot area of 15 square meters each were awarded with a symbolic key to the following head of the families: Joven De Leon, Melissa Candelaria, Norman Manlapaz, Danilo Rolda, Hilbert Rolda, Bryan Rolda, Vilma Borbe, Rolando Borbe, Decelyn Dela Cruz, Christian Borbe and Ariel Anduque.
