Marco gets second shot at stardom
PBB discovery Marco Gallo is happy he left ABS-CBN and chose to be managed by Viva as he now stars in not only a new teleserye but also a new movie. The teleserye is “Di Na Muli” that starts airing on TV5 this September 18, where he plays one of the two leading men of another former Kapamilya talent, Julia Barretto.
The movie is the horror-romance, “Ang Manananggal na Nahahati ang Puso”, where he is paired with newbie Aubrey Caraan who plays the title role. It will be recalled that when nothing was happening with his career at ABS-CBN, he chose to go home to his native Italy, but then later returned to Manila as he misses his career here.
“For a while, nung wala pa akong showbiz assignments, I was in the online and delivery business with my non-showbiz girlfriend, Rachel Hemphil,” he says. “But I have given that up when I got busy with acting. When I was told by Viva that they’re pairing me with Julia Barretto, I was so shocked and can’t believe it’s true as I know she’s already an established big star at ABS.”
So how is it working with Julia? “I was intimidated at first, as she is a much bigger star than me, but I can’t complain. She’s a very caring person. She cares not only about the other cast members but also about how the story would go and also about the conditions in our lock in taping sa Subic. In all fairness to her, she has no airs and she never made me feel in any way that she’s better than me. That really made me feel comfortable doing our scenes together.”
Also in the cast as his rival over Julia is another Marco, Marco Gumabao. “At first, there’s confusion sa taping when they call the name Marco, kasi pareho kaming sumasagot. Even our initials are the same, parehong G. So the staff decided to address us using the names of the characters we play in the story. Ayun, hindi na kami nalilito after that.”
“Di Na Muli” was shot on location in Subic while “Ang Manananggal na Nahahati ang Puso” was shot in the mysterious island of Siquijor. It will start streaming on Vivamax on October 1st.
“I’m so happy that Viva trusted me to be the leading man of Aubrey Caraan in this movie. I really feel so fortunate kasi after I did a supporting role kay Ella Cruz in the movie ‘Gluta’, heto at bida na ako agad in ‘Manananggal’.”
Some folks are jobless due to the ongoing health crisis, but not him. “Yes, I feel good that despite the pandemic, I have plenty of work and I hope it stays like this because I’m enjoying it. In a way, the pandemic, no matter how difficult what we are going through is, has helped me become a more mature and a much better person.”
