MARBIL HONORED
PHILIPPINE National Police chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil on Wednesday received the top Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) award from the King of Malaysia for his role in further strengthening the partnership between the two Southeast Asian police forces in fighting and addressing transnational crimes.
The top cop received the prestigious PRDRM First Class Police Force Bravery Award, also known as the Panglima Gagah Pasukan Polis (PGPP) from the King of Malaysia, His Majesty Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong XVII Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Sultan Iskandar.
The PGGP award conferred by the Malaysian monarch to outstanding Malaysian and other Southeast Asian policemen recognizes their extraordinary bravery, leadership, and service in law enforcement.
Reserved for individuals who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to national security, the award is granted to distinguished members of the Royal Malaysia Police and select foreign officials involved in collaborative efforts to counter transnational crimes such as terrorism, human trafficking, and organized crime.
Gen. Marbil was commended for his effective leadership within the PNP, particularly his contributions to crime prevention and cross-border security initiatives, which have bolstered cooperation between the Philippines and Malaysia.
His dedication to enhancing public safety, community engagement, and fostering trust in law enforcement exemplifies the spirit of the Panglima Gagah Pasukan Polis award, the Malaysian King said.
Gen. Marbil’s accomplishments also underscore the PNP’s commitment to integrity, modernization, and international collaboration, which enhance regional stability and security, the citation read.
The award also further positioned the PNP as a respected partner in regional security, further promoting collaboration with neighboring countries and reflected the Philippines’ commitment to upholding professional standards in law enforcement and strengthening ties with international law enforcement agencies.
The PGPP award is one of Malaysia’s highest honors, given to individuals displaying exceptional valor and leadership. Prominent recipients include high-ranking officers within Malaysia’s own police force, as well as foreign officials from Southeast Asia, recognized for their contributions to international security.
