Manila offers free skills training

MANILA Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) Director Maria Asuncion “Re” Fugoso asked the Manila Barangay Bureau (MBB) to disseminate the programs and projects of the Manila Manpower Development Center (MMDC) for free skills training.

The development center of the city of Manila under the leadership of Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan has been mandated to provide programs and projects for Manilenos in order to become skillful and productive, with a desire to have a permanent or long term job for their family.

Fugoso said the MMDC is offering a four-hour free course for 20-days for Manilenos who wish to learn different skills.

These includes Food and Beverage Service, Housekeeping, Barista, Baking, Cooking, Food Processing, Massage Theraphy, Pinoy Hilot Wellness, Silkscreen Processing and Digital Printing, Basic Haircutting for boys and girls, Bedsheet and Pillow Making, Curtain Making and Fashion Jewelry Making and Beads Ass.

Also included in the offer are skills and livelihood demonstrations such as Herbal Soap Making, Dishwashing Liquid, Fabric Softener, Clorox Making, Candle Making, Meat/Food Processing, Mug and Plate Printing and Perfume/Cologne Making.

MDSW data showed that there are about 2,000 graduates of the different trainings every year under MMDC.
