MAYOR Honey Lacuna stressed that Manila has a very low crime rate for a city of nearly two million people, citing Manila Police District (MPD) data for the first two months of 2025.

“There were only six murders and two homicides for January and February combined compared to the 18 in the same months last year,” Lacuna said.

“Thefts are even down to 58 reported incidents from 69 last year. Robberies are slightly down to 29 from 31,” the mayor said.

“Hindi po ito propaganda, mga anak. These numbers are cold, hard facts. Ligtas manirahan, ligtas mag-aral, at ligtas magtrabaho sa Lungsod ng Maynila. Ito’y hindi lamang accomplishment ng Lacuna administration, kundi pati na ng barangay, national government, at pambansang pulisya,” Lacuna explained.

Lacuna also directed barangay officials to remind local businesses and households to be extra vigilant against thieves and robbers. Safety and security measures must be in place. Economic hardships can push people to steal from others,” the mayor also said.
