Manila courts to resume work
THE Supreme Court (SC), Court of Appeals (CA), and first and second-level courts in the City of Manila will resume work on Tuesday, January 10, following the suspension for the Feast of the Black Nazarene.
Over the weekend, the high court decided to suspend work in anticipation of heavy traffic flow due to road closures near the vicinity of Manila’s Quiapo district.
The order was signed by Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo.
The Feast of the Black Nazarene is one of the country’s biggest religious activities as Filipino Catholics flock to Quiapo to join processions.
In a separate memorandum, the SC, thru the Office of the Court Administrator, suspended work in first and second-level courts in Manila also in time for the Feast of Black Nazarene.
But there shall be a stand-by workforce to assist judges in processing bail applications, release orders, and urgent writs, the memorandum said.
