Manila city hall execs, workers undergo mandatory drug test
THE Manila City Government yesterday started the mandatory drug testing for all officials and employees of the city hall.
Manila Mayor Maria Sheilah “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan said the mandatory drug test for all officials and employees is in compliance with Memorandum Circular No. 13 Series of 2017 or the “Guidelines in the Mandatory Random Drug Test for Public Officials and Employees and for Other Purpose” issued by the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
“Ang resulta naman po nito ay ipadadala natin sa Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) at sa Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) para mapatunayan natin sa kanila na ang Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Maynila ay mayroong drug free workplace,” Mayor Lacuna-Pangan said.
The mayor said they already sent a letter to all departments, bureaus, and offices indicating the date, time, and place of their scheduled mandatory drug test.
“Kaya hintayin po ninyo ang schedule ninyo at para lang po malaman ninyo, ako ang unang unang magpapa-drug test matapos itong ating flag raising ceremony,” Mayor Lacuna said.
City Health Officer Dr. Arnold “Poks” Pangan said the “Drug testing among public officials and employees are made to promote safety and drug-free environment.”.
Around 7,859 officials and employees of the Manila City Hall are expected to undergo mandatory drug testing from July 10 to 28 to ensure that not even one is using illegal drugs.
