‘Manghihilot’ stabs, kills alleged ‘mangkukulam’
A 31-year-old businesswoman, moonlighting as a massage therapist or “manghihilot,’ stabbed dead a sexagenarian PWD man whom she suspected of being a sorcerer who bewitched her, Thursday afternoon in Malabon City.
Malabon police chief P/Col. Albert Barot said Joel Tud, 67, succumbed to multiple stab wounds in the body while being rushed by his son to San Lorenzo Ruiz Hospital.
Barot said responding operatives of Police Substation 4 arrested Beverly Sagansay of 356 Feliciano St., Bgy. Arkong Bato, Valenzuela City, while being ganged up by an irate victim’s neighbor who responded to the crime scene.
Witness Zaldy Tusi, 56, told the police investigator that he saw Sagansay forcibly barge into the house of the victim at Block 6, Lot 6, SAPADACA, Sitio 6, Bgy. Catmon, at around 1:30 p.m. armed with bladed a weapon and without apparent reason stabbed the PWD man repeatedly in the body.
Though wounded, Tud managed to seek the help of his neighbors who immediately responded and chased the fleeing woman.
When cornered, they ganged up on her, but the timely arrival of personnel of the Malabon Police Substation 4 prevented them from further harming the suspect.
Police learned that Sagansay, a known “manghihilot,” attacked the victim with a knife after she surmised that the victim was a sorcerer who cast a spell on her.
