Man with ‘mental illness’ drowns in Batangas river
A MAN with alleged “mental health” issues drowned in the river in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Agoncillo, Batangas.
Agoncillo town police said the fatality was a resident of Bgy. Sta. Cruz, Agoncillo.
Around 1 p.m., Junfrance De Villa, head of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC) of Agoncillo, informed the local town police about the drowning incident that transpired at the said barangay.
As a response, a team led by P/SSg. Mario C. Aquino immediately proceeded to the said place to verify the report.
Initial investigation showed the man left their house at about 6:30 in the evening and failed to return home.
Barangay officials immediately scanned the area, but only a pair of slippers of the victim was found near the barangay river.
The Agoncillo MDRRMO conducted a search and rescue operation, and they retrieved the lifeless body of the victim floating in the river of Bgy. Sta. Cruz.
