Man with bolo runs amok inside Batangas piggery, dies in shootout

A MAN with bolo who ran amok was killed in a shootout with police inside a piggery in Bgy. Pangao, Lipa City, Batangas, Sunday night.

Lipa City Police Station commander Lt. Col Lory Tarazona identified the suspect as Aldrich Maravilla.

Police investigators SMS Rodel M. Silva, SSG Glenn Allan A. Maandal, Cpl Michael Jasson M. Landicho and Cpl. Arnold D. Ubaldo immediately responded after the incident was reported by a family.

The suspect entered a piggery when police arrived at the scene around 2:30 p.m. on October 31.

When the suspect was outnumbered by authorities, he attacked the SWAT officers with his bolo leaving the officers with no choice to shoot him in the leg.

However, the suspect allegedly tried to attack the cops and was about to strike P/Cpl. Rov-Joone L Zara prompting the cop to shoot Maravilla.

The suspect fell and the SWAT team immediately brought him to the nearest hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by attending physician, Dra. Maricel Agna.
