A 28-YEAR-OLD man who was accosted by police for not wearing a face mask found himself in deeper trouble after he allegedly yielded a gun and shabu Sunday evening in Pasay City.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/BGen. Jimili Macaraeg said elements of the Pasay Police Sub-Station 9 were conducting anti-criminality operation along Andrews Avenue, Villamor at around 9:30 p.m. when they saw John Hugo Tupan, resident of Bryg. 183, Zone 20 without a face mask.

When a policemen approached the suspect, they noticed the grip of a gun protruding from his waist prompting them to conduct mandatory procedural body search and found a caliber .38 Smith and Wesson revolver with four live bullets in its chamber.

Lawmen also recovered from Tupan’s short pants’ right pocket a plastic sachet containing shabu weighing 0.03 grams with estimated street value of more or less P300.

Macaraeg said the suspect was presented for inquest proceedings before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office on charges for violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act and possession of illegal drugs under R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 apart from City Ordinance Violation Receipt (COVR) issued against him by authorities for not wearing face mask.
