Man nabbed for stealing copper cable wires in Clark hotel
MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – One of the five men who allegedly barged into a hotel in Clark, Pampanga on Friday to steal electric copper cable wires was arrested in this city.
In a report to Pampanga police director Col. Arnold Ibay, Mabalacat police chief Lt. Col. Soledad Elefanio said suspect Dennis Morales, 36, a grass cutter operator and resident of Sitio Calati, Marcos Village, Mabalacat City, was caught by security guards destroying the main power line to steal the copper cable wires at the second floor of Mirej Hotel Clark located on J.P. Rizal-Prince Balagtas Avenue at the Clark Freeport Zone.
Elefanio said they are now looking for Morales’ five cohorts who managed to escape.
Recovered from the suspect was a 10-meter roll of copper electrical cable wire worth at least P100,000.
Responding cops found on the second floor of the hotel a bolt cutter and another five rolls of copper cable wires. The estimated cost of damage in the robbery was at least P5 million.
Elefanio said the suspects gained entry at the right-side door of the building by cutting the temporary lock made of tying wire.
“This is a clear manifestation of strong police-community partnership where we can count on our citizens and force multipliers in helping address crimes. We continue to solicit their support and be our ears and eyes in the communities,” said Elefanio, as she commended the alert and swift action of the hotel’s security guards.
