A 32-YEAR-OLD resident of Tuguegarao City who went on a hacking spree in his neighborhood last Friday afternoon was shot by a responding policeman after he ignored orders for him to yield and tried to attack the cop.
Police Regional Office 2 director Brig. Gen. Antonio P. Marallag Jr. said the incident took place on Allan Street in Bgy. Linao West in Tuguegarao City around 1:27 p.m. Friday.
An investigation showed that the suspect identified as John Soriano approached 45-year-old barbecue vendor Merry Grace dela Cruz, took the bolo on the table and stabbed the victim without any provocation.
The woman managed to run and seek help from people in the neighborhood. After the incident, the suspect also stabbed Genaro Quilang , a 51-year-old farmer, without any word.
Local policemen who rushed to the site after being informed of the disturbance spotted the suspect still holding the bolo and called on him to surrender peacefully.
