Man disguised as cable man collared for theft

SAN ISIDRO, Nueva Ecija — A man was allegedly caught stealing internet modem devices worth P20,034 here on Friday night.

Police head Major Shariel Paulino said the arrested suspect, identified as Benjo Santos, 47, single, of Bgy. Pulo, was turned over by officials of Bgy. Tabon to the police shortly after Santos’ was collared at 6 p.m.

Paulino added the suspect allegedly pretended he was an employee of telecommunication service provider Converge.

One of the victims allegedly caught the suspect carting away the stolen items and immediately sought the help of barangay officials, resulting in the suspect’s arrest.

Charges for theft and violation of Republic Act 10515 (Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet-Tapping Act of 2013) have been filed against the arrested suspect before the provincial prosecutor’s office.
