Man arrested for shabu package

AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Bureau of Customs on Wednesday afternoon arrested a 47-year-old Quezon City resident during a controlled delivery operation, PDEA chair, Director General Wilkins M. Villanueva said.

The official said that suspect Eric Roperos, an optometry undergraduate residing at no. 43 Bureau of Plant Industry in Barangay Vasra, Visayas Avenue, Q.C. was placed under arrest after he received a package containing suspected shabu and liquid marijuana from an undercover officer.

The controlled delivery operation was launched after Port of Clark authorities discovered the presence of drugs inside a USPS box consigned to the accused. The box turned out to be containing eight pieces of Expo Marker pens, one pack of dart flights, one Pop Boys magazine pack with four self-sealing plastic sachets containing an estimated 14 grams of shabu worth P90,000, and a self-sealing plastic containing suspected liquid marijuana.

The suspect is now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Villanueva said that last Tuesday afternoon, PDEA and Cavite policemen also raided a notorious drug den at Block 16, Lot 8, Queen’s Row East in Bacoor City which led to the arrest of five suspects and the recovery of some 15 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ worth P103,500 and various drug paraphernalia.

Arrested and now facing charges for violation of RA 9165, particularly maintenance of a drug den and illegal possession of prohibited drugs were Christian Abad, 30; Maverick Samonte, 45; Jethro Trigueros, 21; Virgilio Triqueros Jr., 27; and Sonny Singco, 49, said the PDEA chief.
