Mammoth win for Estroso

THE “Mammoth” proved too strong, too classy for the “Bullet.”

Sugar Ray “The Mammoth” Estroso needed only 80 seconds to dismantle Boss Bullet and retain his heavyweight crown in the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) Global Fight Night at the Xylo in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City recently.

Estroso, a former professional boxer, softened up Boss Bullet with a barrage of punches before knocking his opponent with a vicious punch to the delight of a wildly-cheering MMA crowd which braved the intermittent weather.

“Yun talaga ang plano ng Team Estroso. Kailangan pagsuntok ko i-indain niya talaga at malaman nya may paglalagyan siya. I know I’m too strong for him,”said Estroso after the keenly-anticipated but abbreviated fight.

“Ang payo ko lang sa kanya, ipagpatuloy pa niya ang training sa URCC. Pero dapat ang hahamunin niya ay yung mga katapat lang nya at hindi yung gaya ko na mas malaki at mas malakas sa kanya,” added Estroso.

URCC founding chief Alvin Aguilar congratulated both Estroso and Boss Bullet for putting up a good but short fight.

“Maganda naman yun bakbakan nila kahit medyo maikli. At least natapos natin yung matagal na nilang feud na kahit saan sila magkita sa airport, sa gym, sa press conference at weigh in, nagbabangaan. Yun away nila, dinala natin at tinapos sa loob ng ring,” explained Aguilar, who is also the president of Wrestling Association of the Philippines.

Aguilar, a former international jiu-jitsu champion himself, lauded Estroso for his humility and Boss Bullet for his courage during the fight.
