Male trader shot dead in Batangas gas station

A BUSINESSMAN was shot dead by an unknown assailant on a motorcycle while filling gas on his vehicle at a gasoline station in Batangas City Wednesday afternoon.

The victim, according to Batangas City Police Station investigators PSMS Teodorico Magboo and PCpls Jon Rien Mendroz and Juan Ferador Alzate, was identified as Benedicto Baes II y Dimasacat, married, businessman, a native and resident of Bgy. Pinamucan Proper, Batangas City.

Police received the shooting incident report around 5 p.m.

Initial investigation showed that at about 4:30 p.m. of November 17, Baes was seen filling gas on his Toyota Fortuner bearing plate number PQR 557 at Berbets Octane gasoline station located in Sitio Takad, Bgy. Libjo when an unidentified suspect appeared and shot him several times in different parts of the body.

The victim was brought to Jesus of Nazareth Hospital located in Bgy. Gulod Itaas, this city but was pronounced dead on arrival at around 5:07 p.m. on the same date by the attending physician, Dr. Virgillo Pascual.

The suspect immediately fled onboard an unknown type of motorcycle with a cohort towards an undisclosed location.

The cadaver of the victim was moved to San Fernando Funeral Home located in Bgy. Kumingtang Ibaba, Batangas City.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives team from Batangas Crime Lab was requested to conduct a technical investigation. They recovered six fired cartridge casings for cal. 45.

The victim’s vehicle was taken to the crime lab office for further investigation.

Likewise, a dragnet operation was requested by the said station for possible identification and apprehension of the suspect.
