Makati police chief, men relieved over ‘unreported shooting’ incident
NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office director, Brigadier General Anthony A. Aberin relieved the Makati City Police Station chief and some of his men for failure to report a shooting incident on Wednesday in Taguig City.
The shooting incident was exposed by ACT-Teachers party-list Representative Franz Castro during the House of Representatives’ Quad Committee hearing on Thursday.
According to the official, he ordered the immediate relief of Makati City police chief, Colonel Joseph Talento and the commander of the Makati CPS Sub-Station 6 and his personnel amid the ongoing investigation into the shooting incident.
The lawmaker said she personally witnessed a shooting incident in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City at around 11 p.m. Wednesday.
“In the immediate inquiry conducted, it was reported by the District Director of Southern Police District that the incident transpired in Makati Avenue, Makati City and not in BGC Taguig City,” said the NCRPO chief.
“Right now, our investigators are on the ground to determine the details of the incident. Part of the investigation is to find out why no report was made by Makati City Police Station regarding the incident,” he added.
Brig. Gen. Aberin said that Talento and his men who were directly involved in the incident were relieved from their posts to pave the way to an impartial inquiry on the matter.
“NCRPO would like to assure everyone, especially Rep. Castro that NCRPO will uncover the details of what happened and if any members of NCRPO commit transgressions against policies, they will not be tolerated and will be penalized accordingly,” the official said.
He also reiterated his strict policy regarding the reporting of all police operations and incidents.
