IT is about truth and healing.”

These were the words of Senator Imee Marcos who in an ambush interview yesterday explained the need for the Filipino people to know what really happened 36 years ago inside and outside of Malacanang Palace.

Marcos made her reaction to the controversial movie “Maid in Malacanang” amid accusations that this movie produced by Viva Film by Mr. Vic del Rosario twisted the truth and is an attempt to revise history.

“Ipinakita dito kung anong nangyari sa Palasyo. We also want to air our sides at importante na makinig at marinig ng lahat ang storyang ito upang mabuo ang istorya ng ating lahi,” Marcos said as she encouraged everyone, including critics to watch and listen well before giving comments or citicisms.

“Nasa mga manunuood na ang paghuhusga kung work of art siya o hindi. Kasi talaga naman comedy director si Direk Darry Yap pero ang masasabi ko lamang sa panig ko is that this is about the truth. Its a work of truth. Flights of fancy pero ang buod ay tungkol sa history pa rin ng ating bansa, it is about the truth,” Marcos added

“Bakit may komentaryo na sa lahat? Ngayon pa lang ilalabas sa sinehan. Wala pa naman silang nakikita. Inaanyayahan ko kahit anong panig kayo sa pelikula na tingnan niyo muna,” said Marcos who denied that they are distributing free tickets in various schools.

“Hindi siguro papayag ang Viva, si Mr. Vic del Rosario na libre?” she clarified.

The lady senator shrugged off criticisms saying everyone has the right to air their sides citing the fact that everyone has the right to know the truth.

She explained that this will be the first time that Filipinos will be able to know what took place inside Malacanang 36 years ago and what transpired during their family’s last days in power.

“Sa isang banda, sa isang pamilyang pangkaraniwan lamang na may asaran, may tampuhan, may kulitan. Pero sa kabilang banda naman, alam naman natin na ito ay naging bahagi ng ating kasaysayan; naging kwento na rin ng bansa. Wala tayong alam kung anong nangyari sa isang panig. Wala tayong alam kung anong nangyari sa isang pamilya,” she said.

She also thanked actors and actresses who participated in the movie considering the bashing that they are getting because of their roles in the controversial movie.

“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa kanila kina Ms. Ruffa Gutierrez, Cesar Montano na matatapang at marami pang iba na ginawa nila ang kanila role kahit na ba-bash sila.” she said

Sen. Marcos narrated that it all started after the elections.

“It all started after the election dahil umabot sa 110 million views kami. Duon lamang nagsimula. Comedy Director talaga si Darryl Yap at nagulat kami sa kinalabasan. Maraming portion ang naging tearjerker,” she said.

The lady solon said she is hopeful that this will help our country understand many things and hopeful too that the people will be united as one country.

“Time to air our sides and the history of our nation. makinig sa lahat ng narrative para mabuo ang kwento ng ating lahi. Sa isang bansa isang pamilya na may tampuhan kahit sa jowa o pamilya. kahit galit kayo o iinit ang ulo. Importante simulan ang talakayan. Kahit may kagalit ka sa pamilya o sa jowa,” kailangan mag-usap usap tayo.” she said. By CAMILLE P. BALAGTAS & PS JUN SARMIENTO
