DOLORES, MABALACAT CITY — As part of its mission to help and support Mabalaquenians, the Mabalacat City government led by Mayor Crisostomo Garbo on Monday provided financial assistance to 124 newly-registered solo parents.

Garbo along with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) headed by Josephine Basilio-Tanglao led the distribution of P5,000 educational and medical assistance to the beneficiaries at the Dolores covered court.

Garbo said the city is also making efforts to provide jobs to Mabalaquenians, especially to those who are in dire need of source of living.

“Paniniwala ko na hindi dapat dinadamay ang anak sa mga kapighatian ng buhay. Ang anak ay inspirasyon. Hindi dapat pinapahirapan. Kaya kapag may nahuhuli o nababalitaan kami na inuutusan ang anak na mang-snatch o magbenta ng droga, ang ginagawa ko po ay sinasali ko po rito sa programa natin,” Garbo added.

According to CSWDo, the assistance provided is an annual program of the city and those who are qualified the following year shall still receive assistance.

However, for educational assistance, the CSWDO said it will prioritize solo parents who are having difficulties to provide for the schooling of their children in high school and college.
