A 33-YEAR-OLD jobless man and his mother were arrested by the local police in a buy-bust operation in Subic, Zambales on Friday which led to the seizure of over P200,000 worth of shabu, the Journal Group learned.

Zambales Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Romano V. Cardiño identified the suspects as Rico Nipay and his mother Luzviminda,67, both residents of Sitio Agusuhin in Barangay Cawag in Subic.

In a report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director, Brigadier General Valeriano T. de Leon, the official said the two were arrested while conspiring to sell shabu to an undercover officer in their neighborhood around 1:45 a.m. last Friday.

Recovered from the possession of the two were 37 pieces of small heat-sealed plastic sachets containing nearly 30 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P203,320, the buy-bust money topped by a marked P1,000 bill and P1,500 in cash which are believed to be part of their drug proceeds.

Cardiño said that the young Nipay is included in their ‘watch list’ of known drug personalities in the province. Members of the Subic Municipal Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit and the Zambales PPO’s Drug Enforcement Unit jointly conducted the anti-narcotics operation.

The official said that the two are now facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
