LYCEUM of the Philippines University seeks to extend its perfect run to four games as it takes on San Sebastian today in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

Enjoying their finest start since opening the 2018 season at 12-0 under then coach Topex Robinson, the Pirates are determine to sustain their solid performance in the 4 p.m. duel with the Stags.

Winless squads University of Perpetual Help System Dalta and Arellano University clash in the curtain raiser at 2 p.m.

LPU is doing well this season, beating last season’s finalists College of Saint Benilde and Letran in succession. The Pirates then showed steely resolve to beat the Altas, 76-73, last Saturday.

While big man Shawn Umali continues to prove his worth for LPU, coach Gilbery Malabanan said he expects new heroes will shine every game as the Pirates aim to surpass last year’s Final Four finish.

“I have been saying this since last season: my team is unpredictable. You won’t know who will explode for us,” Malabanan said.

San Sebastian, meanwhile, split its two games under new coach John Kallos. The Stags are coming off a 111-86 conquest of the Chiefs.

Perpetual and Arellano struggled in the first two contests this season.

While the Altas had an average losing margin of 5.5 points, the two defeats that the Chiefs suffered were all blowouts.

The loser will drop in a tie with the Knights (0-3) at the bottom of the standings.
