THE chief of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) said that one of the primary objectives of their agency is to bring government service “closer” to the people.

In his message read during the inauguration of the LTO Tanauan District Office located in Barangay Darasa, Tanauan, Batangas, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Jose Arturo “Jay Art” Tugade said among his priorities upon assuming office was to give and bring government services closer to many Filipinos.

Among the mandates expressed by the LTO chief to LTO Region IV-A personnel was not just to provide the people of Tanauan with a “beautiful office” but also exceptional service, according to LTO Region IV-A Regional Director Atty. Noreen Bernadette San Luis-Lutey during the inauguration of the new office.

“Our promise here at LTO Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) is that at LTO Tanauan, we did not just make the beautiful and conducive for transactions by the public but also made our services fast and efficient in the entire LTO Tanauan,” Atty. San Luis-Lutey said.

“In terms of our service, as what we always say, we will always better what is already best,” she added.

She likewise thanked the prime movers in the establishment of the LTO Tanauan office, Tanauan City, Batangas Mayor Nelson “Sonny” Collantes, and Batangas province 3rd District Representative Ma. Theresa “Maitet” Collantes.

It was Mayor “Sonny” and Rep. “Maitet” Collantes, according to Atty. San Luis-Lutey, who helped push the enactment of Republic Act (RA) 11430, or “An Act Establishing a Regular District Office of the LTO in the City of Tanauan” in the 3rd district of Batangas during the 17th Congress, which was signed by former President Rodrigo Duterte.

“We pushed for the establishment of an LTO office in Tanauan because we saw the need of the motoring public not just in Tanauan but also in nearby areas. And we thank Senators Grace Poe and Loren Legarda for making this endeavor happen,” Rep. Collantes said in her message.

In the entire LTO Calabarzon, Atty. San Luis-Lutey said they have already opened a total of 21 offices upon their assumption of office in addition to what was already existing.

Overall, there are now around 54 LTO offices in the region, and the Tanauan office will be the sixth office in Batangas.
