LTO to assist travelers for the Holy week break
THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) is all set and prepared to assist province-bound travelers for the long Holy Week break.
According to LTO chief Asst. Secretary Vigor Mendoza II, he instructed all regional directors and other agency officials to make sure that the necessary road safety plans are in place.
Millions of Filipinos are expected to travel to their respective provinces for a long Holy Week break to take vacation and bond with friends and families.
“My instruction is more on proactive measures through visibility in major thoroughfares for assistance and law enforcement, and the conduct of random and surprise inspections on bus terminals to ensure the road worthiness of passenger buses,” Mendoza said.
The move was in line with the directive of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon to ensure the safety of all road users.
“Kailangan din natin matiyak ang mental and physical readiness ng mga driver at konduktor kaya kung kinakailangang magsagawa ng random and surprise drug testing ay gagawin natin,” he pointed out.
He added that LTO personnel should be visible as early as this weekend as some travelers were already on vacation leave and would start their travel.
The LTO chief also urged motorists to ensure the roadworthiness of their vehicles to avoid unnecessary inconvenience and accidents on the road, especially those who would travel with their families.
