TO recognize the invaluable contribution provided by riders to the public during pandemic, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Wednesday signed a memorandum of agreement with Grab Philippines ahead of the launching of its Juan Stop, Juan Go project “LTO katuwang ng mga tagapaghatid”.

“With the pandemic, we are living in a new normal and the riders provided the services we needed that is the reason we also consider them as frontliners, said Assistant Secretary Edgar C. Galvante.

This project, Galvante said will give all riders easy access to the services of LTO by providing an express lane exclusively for them when they renew or get a new driver’s license or register their vehicles, among others.

The LTO will also provide training for organized riders on road safety although he stressed that most riders involved in accidents are individual riders.

Galvante added that the services of riders should be complementation and not competition wherein one can provide services to areas not covered by the other riders.

At the same time, the LTO chief also urged the public not to engage the services of fixers who claim to provide a driver’s license without going through the normal process in exchange for exorbitant fees.

The LTO Juan Stop, Juan Go project will be launched on Monday (Dec. 6) at the LTO office in Cainta, Rizal.

For her part, Region 4-A LTO Director, Atty. Noreen Bernadette San Luis-Lutey said the
pilot project will be done in LTO Cainta, because it is near Metro Manila where the bulk of the riders are based and the area is big enough to accommodate them.

“This is our way of making the life of our riders easier and our way of giving back to them for they have done to us under the new normal,” Lutey said.

“Isang paraan din ito para ilapit ang sebisyo publiko sa tao,” Lutey added.

Grab Philippines managing director, Grace Vera Cruz thanked the LTO for the opportunity to make the LTO services, easy and accessible not only to GRAB but to all riders.
