A LOW pressure area (LPA) was spotted off Surigao del Sur while monsoon trough continues to affect Luzon and other parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday.

The weather bureau said the LPA was estimated at 785 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur as of 3 a.m. Sunday.

PAGASA weather forecaster Grace Castañeda said the LPA is “less likely” to develop into tropical depression within 24 hours but “we will continue to monitor the weather disturbance.”

In its 5 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said Batanes and Babuyan Islands will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to monsoon trough.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms also due to monsoon trough.

Luzon will experience light to moderate winds blowing to northwest to west with slight to moderate coastal waters.

Meanwhile, Visayas and Mindanao will have light to moderate winds blowing southwest to west with slight to moderate coastal waters.

The minimum temperature will be 24.5 C and the maximum temperature will be 32 C. Philippine News Agency
