Lola dead, 13 hurt in Batangas road mishap

A 64-YEAR-OLD woman died and some passengers including several minor students were injured after a Jitney crashed in Nasugbu, Batangas the other day.

Nasugbu Municipal Police Station case in charge Cpl. Raymart M. Cadeliña said the lone fatality identified as Emilita Flores.

He said the injured victims who were taken to the hospital for first aid were identified as Earljim Franz Navarro, 19, single, student; Enrico Flores, 38; Rosalie Termida, 37; Raymond Dela Peña, 41; Val Flores, carpenter, 72; Bernard Flores, 32, a kitchen worker; Kathleen Dela Peña, 19, a factory worker; and Jayson Dela Peña, 31, warehouse worker.

Also Beverly Dela Peña, 40; Violeta Dela Peña, 62; Cristine Santiago, 19, student; Jabez Ebuenga, 18, student; Madilyn Navarro, 39, sustained abrasion on both legs; and several minor students, all residents of Barangay Bayanan, Muntinlupa City.

Cadeliña’s investigation showed that the Isuzu passenger Jitney (PYH 504) driven by Allan Magdaraog, 51, of Purok 1, Bgy. Bayanan, Muntinlupa City was traveling around 5:10 a.m. going to Nasugbu town, and when it reached a curve portion in Bgy. Natipuan, Nasugbu, the said vehicle allegedly lost its brakes, and to avoid falling on the ravine alongside the road, the driver maneuvered the steering wheel to the left, causing it to hit the electric post.

Some of the passengers who sustained injuries were rushed to Apacible Memorial District Hospital and Ospital ng Nasugbu for medical treatment, unfortunately, Flores was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician Dra. Solly Pisando.
