NASUNGKIT ng award-winning actor na si John Lloyd Cruz ang Boccalino d’Oro prize, o kilala rin bilang Golden Jug award, para sa best actor sa 76th Locarno Film Festival sa Switzerland, para sa kanyang mahusay na pagganap sa pelikula ng direktor na si Lav Diaz na “Essential Truth of Lake”

Inanunsyo ang pagkapanalo ni Lloydie bilang best actor nitong Biyernes ng Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).

Sa pahayag na inilabas ni FDCP chairman at chief executive officer na si Tirso Cruz III, sinabi niyang: “It is with great joy and pride that I congratulate one of the most talented artists of our country, Mr. John Lloyd Cruz, for having won the Boccalino d’Oro prize for Best Actor at the 76th LFF in Switzerland.”

“This award is much deserved by an artist of his caliber. Lloydie, congratulations and thank you for bringing honor to our country,” dagdag pa ng FDCP chairman.

Si John Lloyd ay ang ikalawang Filipino na nakasungkit ng nasabing parangal. Nauna itong nakuha ni Hazel Orencio noong 2014 para sa pelikulang “Mula sa Kung Ano ang Noon” na sa direksyon din ni Lav Diaz.

Maliban kay Lloydie, kasama niyang umarte sa “Essential Truths of the Lake” sina Orencio, Shaina Magdayao, Bart Guingona at Agot Isidro.
