Live-in partner arrested for gunrunning

Two suspects allegedly involved with a gunrunning syndicate were nabbed on Friday afternoon, following the confiscation of high-powered firearms and ammunition by combined operatives of the Laguna Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Highway Patrol Group, Laguna police and Philippine Air Force.

The operatives nabbed the suspected gunrunners during the conduct of the Oplan Paglalansag Omega in relation to the Simultaneous Anti Criminal Law Enforcement Operation in Bgy. Sto Domingo, Bay, Laguna.

CIDG officials said the suspects were identified as Marissa Cruz, 56, of Blk 2 Lot 54, Ph V, Greenwoods, Bgy. Pinagbuhatan and Alberto Lopez, 64, of C-64-A Antonio St., Villa Regina, both of Pasig City.

The groups led by the CIDG swooped down around 3:30 p.m. on the hideout in Bgy. Sto Domingo to conduct a firearms buy-bust operation which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.

Confiscated during the operations were one unit of caliber 5.56 Colt rifle, one unit of caliber .45 Rock Island, one unit of caliber .45 MK IV, one upper receiver caliber 5.56 rifle, one piece bolt assembly for cal. 5.56 rifle, 22 pieces live ammunition for caliber 45, three pieces short steel magazine for caliber 45, three pieces short steel magazine for caliber 5.56 rifle, one piece long steel magazine for caliber 5.56 rifle, two pieces short plastic magazine for caliber 5.56 rifle, one piece magazine pouch for caliber 45, one piece black rifle bag, two units of Samsung cellular phone, one unit vehicle Mitsubishi Montero with plate number NBY 9742, 130 pieces of P1,000 bill as boodle money, 2 pieces P1,000 and one piece khaki green sling bag.

The arrested suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the CIDG Laguna Office for documentation and proper disposition.
