THERE was no major election-related incident was recorded in the entire Cordillera region on Monday when the local population gave a “resounding” presidential victory to their favorite son, former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., and his running mate, Davao City Mayor and presidential daughter Sara Duterte, the Journal Group learned yesterday.

“As the people cast their votes on Monday, no major poll-related incident was recorded in the Cordillera region, making it a peaceful and orderly election day,” Cordillera Region Police Director Brigadier General Lee said.

In a report to Philippine National Police Officer-in-Charge (PNP-OIC), Lt. Gen. Vicente D. Danao Jr., Brig. Gen. Lee attributed the “generally peaceful” situation in the Cordillera region to the full support given by candidates and their supporters to the law authorities, particularly those from the “Task Force Abra” and other government agencies.

“Hopefully, as we await the proclamation of the results of the 2022 National and Local Election (NLE), may we be able to maintain the peacefulness and orderliness in the Cordilleras and the whole country,” the official said.

Brig. Gen. Lee ordered the deployment of his Command Group and Regional Staff members as area supervisors in the region on Monday to help the local police provincial and city directors perform their tasks.

He said that the move ensured that the flow of communication during election day will be maintained while immediate decision-making will put into action.
