Lawson treats customers to ‘Red One’ screening
WILL Christmas push through if Santa Claus gets kidnapped?
The night before Christmas eve, Santa was snatched by the villainous Gryla (Kiernan Shipka), an evil witch with her desire to punish everyone on the naughty list and ruin Christmas.
It’s what the movie, ‘Red One’ is all about. And it is not the usual heartwarming Christmas classic that everyone might expect. The story was done with a twist, made it more high-tech and added unscrupulous characters including Santa’s estranged adopted brother, Krampus (Kristofer Hivju).
His name is spelled b-a-d. No wonder, violence and action were added to the pre-holiday fare. The action sequences are a bit frightening for the young audience.
No wonder, ‘Red One’ was given a PG (Parental Guidance) classification, although there is no bloody violence, sex or nudity, but minor sexual innuendoes are in the dialogue of some of the characters
J.K. Simmons plays the cool and modern St. Nick with Dwayne Johnson as his loyal bodyguard, Callum, a 452-year-old ELF (Extremely Large and Formidable), who earlier expressed his desire to retire, with this Christmas as his final mission.
Lawson treats customers to early Yuletide present with the special screening of Red One, a must-see action-comedy event that delivers a fresh twist on Christmas for the holiday season.
In collaboration with Warner Brothers, loyal patrons of Lawson were treated to an exclusive block screening of Red One, last November 15, at Cinema 3 One BHS (Bonifacio High Street) Cinema.
Directed by Jake Kasdan, who previously teamed with Johnson on the blockbuster “Jumanji” movies, “Red One” is about who everyone in the North Pole calls Santa.
The action-adventure flick follows the story of Santa Claus – Code Name: Red One – after he was kidnapped a day before Christmas Eve.
This year, Callum, who is North Pole’s head of security and the guy detailed with St. Nick, laments there are more people on the naughty list than the nice ones. That is killing his Christmas spirit and disappoints him.
Chris Evans plays Jack O’Malley, a level four naughty lister who needs to make up with his teenage son, Dylan (Wesley Kimmel), for Christmas.
A notorious hacker, Jack is seized by MORA (Mythological Oversight and Restoration Authority) headed by Zoe (Lucy Liu), who aids Callum in tracking down Santa. Jack has no choice but to team up with Callum in order to locate St. Nick and save Christmas.
Bonnie Hunt plays a minor, but important character as Mrs. Claus.
The special block screening was attended by Lawson executives Takuya Goto, CFO (Chief Finance Officer) and Group Head of Merchandising and Marketing, Lea Rose Loleng, Marketing and Food Service Manager and members of Team Liquid PH – Karltzy, Sanford, Sanji, Jaypee, Mitch Liwanag with Influencers Odin, Black Cookies Production, Rio Mizu, Fourth Solomon and Patrise Calumpag.
“This is just the beginning of a string of many more projects that will surely excite our patrons,” said Takuya Goto, Lawson’s Director/ CFO and Group Head of Merchandising and Marketing.
“I want to express gratitude to Warner Brothers for this tie-up and we intend to offer more quality movies to our customers.”
Goto also expressed sheer appreciation with the overwhelming attendance during the screening, filling the entire cinema with Lawson supporters.
This awesome collaboration between Lawson Philippines and Warner Bros. kicks off Lawson Philippines’ celebration of its upcoming milestones – opening of its 200th branch by end of 2024 and its 10th anniversary in the Philippines.
