PRESIDENT Marcos has called on government offices and agencies not to hold lavish or extravagant Christmas parties.

The call drew cheers from various quarters, notably the millions of victims of the series of typhoons that ravaged the country.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said state agencies ought to hold scaled-down celebrations.

We share the view of Malacanang that President Marcos’ call is in solidarity with the millions of typhoon and storm victims.

Bersamin said these Filipinos continue to grieve over lives, homes, livelihoods lost during the six typhoons that pummeled us in a span of less than a month.:

Despite these tragedies, the government, through concerned agencies, is doing everything to enable the victims to still feel the spirit of Christmas.

In fact, the government wants the savings to be realized as a result of the scaled-down parties to be donated to the affected communities.

And the government is determined to deliver on time relief goods and other assistance to the suffering typhoon victims.
